Italy's data protection authority, the Garante, announced fines totaling 1 million euros to three entities, including the City of Rome, for insufficient data protection measures for motorists' personal data. Additionally, the Garante ruled two Italian police forces can use body cameras so long as they do not employ facial recognition technology and maintain six-month data retention periods.
