The ICO has published updated guidance on the UK’s e-privacy laws.

The updated guidance now addresses new UK requirements to obtain “consent” when serving website cookies and for public electronic communications service providers to notify personal data breaches. Controversially, however, it does not provide further guidance to UK businesses about how they can achieve consent when serving website cookies beyond that already published by the ICO in its earlier guidance on “Changes to the rules on using cookies and similar technologies for storing information.”

The updated guidance is available online.
