Philip Laird, General Counsel, California Privacy Protection Agency
Maureen Mahoney, Deputy Director of Policy and Legislation, California Privacy Protection Agency

The Delete Act, a new California privacy law, requires the California Privacy Protection Agency to create a platform that allows California consumers to submit a single verifiable request to delete their personal information from all registered data brokers. The platform is named the Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, or DROP, and will launch in 2026. The CPPA’s deputy director of policy and legislation will walk the audience through the status of data broker legislation in the United States, and how the Delete Act became law in California. Other panelists will give attendees a first look at DROP through a visual demonstration on how consumers will use it to request the deletion of their personal information from data brokers.

What you will learn:

  • The Delete Act and the creation of the DROP platform.
  • How the DROP platform will simplify consumer requests to delete personal information from registered data brokers, including a visual demonstration of how consumers will use the platform once it launches in 2026.
  • The status of data broker legislation in the United States and how the Delete Act became law.
