A Path Through Data Transfers: Balancing Compliance, Localization and Innovation
Wednesday, 18 Nov.
12:15 - 13:15 CET
Intermediate level
The free flow of personal data across borders is more commercially essential than ever, fueling AI-driven innovation, enabling operational agility, boosting supply chain efficiency and strengthening real-time cyber defense. Yet global localization pressures are intensifying: the expanding U.S.–China data restrictions, increasingly stringent localization regimes, such as in Turkey and Saudi Arabia, and the constantly evolving requirements of transfer mechanisms worldwide are compelling companies and cloud providers to rethink their architectures and governance approaches. This session will explore how global companies are evolving and redesigning their cross-border data transfer frameworks in response to the shifting legal landscape, and how companies have implemented operational and technical controls needed to comply with these legal requirements. Based on their personal experiences, the panel will discuss practical strategies for preserving the commercial benefits of international data flows while ensuring trusted and compliant transfers. Those who manage this balance well will be able to compete faster, innovate more intelligently and maintain the confidence of both consumers and regulators.
What you will learn:
- How companies have redesigned their data transfer frameworks to keep pace with the shifting global regulatory landscape.
- How data localization requirements are making companies reassess their technology and vendor strategies, as well as operational compliance.
- How companies can design and implement operational, technical controls that enable trusted and compliant transfers while preserving commercial benefits, including AI-driven innovation, supply chain efficiency and cyber defense capabilities.
