Sovereignty, Standards and Literacy as Pillars of AI Adoption in Canada
Monday, 4 May
16:00 - 17:00 EDT
Grand Ballroom East, Lower Concourse
Intermediate level
Canada's artificial intelligence future depends not just on innovation, but on technical, institutional and human infrastructure to enable the responsible and trustworthy adoption of AI at scale. This panel brings together leaders from government, policy institutions and civil society to examine the building blocks required to advance AI in Canada.
Panelists will explore what digital and data sovereignty truly means for Canada in a landscape where hyperscaler platforms are becoming the default, and where the location and ownership of data carries profound implications for governance and autonomy. The will also discuss the importance of investing in human literacy to enhance the potential of AI for the public sector and beyond.
What you will learn:
• How Canadian institutes must work together to proactively define what data and AI sovereignty means.
• How AI literacy is an enabler for increased adoption of AI in both public and private sectors.
• How an integrated data ecosystem within government is essential for scalable AI adoption, but achieving it requires deliberate choices about platforms, standards and data location.
