From Bedside to Backend: A Clinician’s Take on AI, Privacy and Trust in Canada
Tuesday, 5 May
12:00 - 13:15 EDT
Intermediate level
As AI-enabled tools continue to expand across Canada’s health systems, clinician engagement is becoming both a critical success factor in digital transformation and a persistent blind spot in governance strategies. This session explores how to build trust where it matters most: at the bedside. Featuring a practicing physician, the discussion will offer a grounded clinical perspective on key issues such as AI governance, interoperability and privacy in Canadian health care. Attendees will gain insight into what drives or deters clinician adoption of new tools, how privacy and security teams can better align with clinical workflows, and where governance frameworks enable or hinder innovation. From fragmented regulations to frontline realities, we will examine what it takes to move from policy to practice in a way that protects patient data while earning the confidence of health care providers. This session is a must for those working at the intersection of privacy, innovation and care delivery.
What you will learn:
• What drives or deters clinician adoption of AI tools in Canadian health care, and how to bridge the gap between privacy requirements and clinical realities.
• How to align privacy, security and governance frameworks with frontline workflows to enable safe, trusted digital health innovation.
• Where current regulatory approaches fall short, and how to shift from theoretical compliance to practical trust-building at the bedside.
