As we face legislative changes to Canada’s privacy, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence sectors, as well as increasing expectations around age verification and addressing online hate, it is important to consider lessons learned from the recent past. GDPR has led to significant changes in network architecture and security. It also required tighter integration between technology and governance to meet the legislative challenges: DSARs, linking to lawful bases for processing, and demonstrating the controls both within the enterprise and over service providers. Attendees will hear about practical challenges and questions to ensure privacy and AI governance keep pace with technologists building the systems where data resides.

What you will learn:

• Challenges and lessons learned from gearing up for GDPR.

• Likely legislative requirements in Canada affecting technology.

• The role of governance in working with technology leaders.
