Viral Hack for Social Media Platforms: Solving Data and Content Issues with AI
Wednesday, 22 July
16:15 - 17:30 SGT
Intermediate level
Social media platforms manage billions of posts daily, making automated moderation essential to identify and remove illegal content at scale. Yet artificial intelligence detection systems cannot reliably assess context, intent or cultural nuance. Regulators around the globe require platforms to proactively moderate content, from obscenity and privacy violations to deepfakes and disinformation. However, implementation approaches significantly vary. This fragmentation creates compliance challenges as platforms navigate different obligations, takedown timelines and enforcement mechanisms simultaneously across jurisdictions. This session will examine how regulatory frameworks in jurisdictions such as the US, EU, China and India translate into operational reality for AI-powered content moderation. Drawing on implementation experience, speakers will explore what automated systems can and cannot achieve, implementation challenges, conflicting regulatory requirements and potential pathways for developing harmonious approaches for content moderation.
What you will learn:
• Comparative analysis of global content moderation frameworks.
• Technical capabilities and limitations of AI detection systems at scale across different content types and languages.
• Practical coordination mechanisms between platforms and regulators to address im-plementation challenges.
