From Zero to Hero: Building a Risk-based Privacy Program on a Budget in Asia
Thursday, 23 July
10:30 - 11:30 SGT
Beginner level
Privacy leaders across Asia are increasingly expected to run regulator-ready, cross-border privacy programs with limited budget, headcount and tooling, and often, as a team of one. This session provides a practical, risk-based roadmap for building and scaling a credible privacy program in resource-constrained environments.
Using realistic APAC-focused scenarios such as expanding into new markets, responding to regulator inquiries and balancing overlapping requirements across jurisdictions, participants will learn how to triage privacy obligations, focus on the controls that reduce risk fastest, and make defensible trade-offs when doing everything is not possible. The session will also explore how to translate privacy work into business-relevant language, demonstrate return on investment and secure leadership support without relying on large teams or expensive tools.
Attendees will leave with practical frameworks for prioritization and communication that help shift privacy operations from reactive firefighting to sustainable, scalable programs.
What you will learn:
• How to identify and rank the privacy risks that matter most in APAC when resources are limited, using a practical risk-based prioritization approach.
• How to sequence and focus on privacy obligations across multiple Asian jurisdictions without over-engineering or unnecessary spend.
• How to communicate privacy value and risk reduction in business terms that resonate with executives and support budget and resourcing discussions.
