RNZ reports on how an Australian case involving Google could affect legal proceedings in New Zealand. Australian courts found Google's privacy settings misled consumers over whether location data was stored on Android devices. Bell Gully Senior Associate Richard Massey said New Zealand regulators have likely paid close attention to the decision. "Past experience has shown that the Commerce Commission in New Zealand has quite closely monitored the activities of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission ..., and it will certainly have taken an interest in this case," Massey said.
