The Wall Street Journal reports on the growing need for IT teams at small- to medium-sized businesses to treat cybersecurity as a top priority. In light of a recent spate of ransomware attacks affecting a host of organizations, from large health care institutions to small-town radio stations, SMEs often have less IT resources to combat cybersecurity incidents. University of Houston's Chris Bonk said SMEs must retrain staff or hire new staff who can focus on cybersecurity. "In today's world of ever-multiplying threats and dependence on connected assets," the report states, "all IT staff must now be cybersecurity staff first." Bonk also recommends using cloud-based services to run IT functions and investing in cybersecurity tools for the organization. (Registration may be required to access this story.)
