You’ve all seen the data: More than 100,000 cybersecurity professionals are needed right now in the United States alone to fill demand. But where will they come from? The National Institute for Standards and Technology are looking at that very question. In May, NIST announced $1 million cybersecurity education grants, as part of the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education. Here at P.S.R., IAPP Director of Research Rita Heimes, CIPP/US, will examine these efforts in-depth with NIST’s Sean Brooks and Rodney Petersen, as part of “Models for Privacy and Security Education and Workforce Development.” How can security and privacy career paths come together to everyone’s benefit, creating new professionals with feet in both disciplines? Hopefully, we’ll find out.
