The U.S. Federal Communications Commission approved a proposal that could allow for a crackdown on spam text messages, Axios reports. Commissioners voted 4-0 Sept. 23 to begin receiving comment on a potential requirement for cellular providers “to block texts from numbers known to be illegal or fraudulent.” Part of the comment stage also includes soliciting input on whether providers should be permitted to utilize third-party analytics to help identify text spammers.
