The U.K. Information Commissioner’s Office is urging accountants to recognize their “crucial role” in helping small to medium-sized clients implement data protection practices. “Data protection law sets out what businesses should do to make sure they are looking after people’s personal information properly and fairly,” the ICO said, noting available resources. “In addition to the legal requirement, good data protection makes economic sense. It saves business owners time and money and shows customers their information is being treated correctly.”
