The Privacy Advisor | TRUSTe Announces Two Latest Companies To Be Awarded APEC Certification Related reading: Building a modern data protection technology stack

TRUSTe has announced and Yodlee are the two latest companies to be awarded the APEC certification. They join IBM, Merck and Workday in having the designation. The APEC Privacy Certification allows companies that do business in APEC member countries to ensure their privacy management practices of personal data are compliant with the APEC Cross-Border Privacy Rules Framework.

David Glaubke, director of corporate communications at, said the company is “committed to protecting the privacy of our users, and the APEC Privacy Certification helps protect the exchange of personal information across borders, which is vital to our business.”

The news follows the announcement of the EU-APEC referential at the IAPP Global Privacy Summit in early March. The referential is designed to be a tool for companies that seek certification under APEC and the EU’s Article 29 Working Party.

TRUSTe CEO Chris Babel supported the announcement, saying, “We welcome the announcement made by EU agencies and APEC economies, which will make it easier for companies to demonstrate global compliance under international standards and is an exciting step towards further interoperability of privacy frameworks worldwide.”

To help clients seeking a BCR solution for data compliance in the EU, TRUSTe has partnered with Promontory, a risk-management and regulatory-compliance consulting firm.
