- El Salvador.com reports President Nayib Bukele rejected the Personal Data Protection Law after the Legislative Assembly of El Salvador's Economic Commission passed the bill April 23. Bukele indicated the law does not clearly define data protection mechanisms based on jurisdiction while also arguing shortcomings in the ability to form the National Data Protection Authority.
- Uzbekistan's Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic announced the adoption of a bill to improve the country's regulatory framework around personal data. Notably, the bill calls for new and harsher penalties on certain data activities.
