Fox 17 News reports the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security has sold the personal information of 7.2 million drivers to five companies. Under the Federal Driver Privacy Protection Act of 1994 and Tennessee Uniform Motor Vehicle Records Disclosure Act, the department can sell bulk data "on all drivers in Tennessee," Director of Communications Wes Moster said. The bulk data includes valid, revoked and suspended driver’s licenses, as well as drivers who formerly resided in Tennessee but have moved out of the state.
