Being transparent with consumers and promising not to sell their customers' data to third parties is a way of building trust, MediaPost reports, citing a survey conducted by consumer research company Attest. Per the survey, approximately one-third of U.S. consumers will decline nonessential cookies if asked and 58% would opt out of mailing lists. However, 47% of consumers would feel safe sharing their data with a company on their own terms.
