In a report for Fast Company, social-impact startups that handle sensitive data share how they manage the complexities of privacy policy. The companies said they focus on three common themes: user needs, legal compliance and privacy culture. “Small teams should plan for risk, instill a strong culture of privacy, and seek out resources to create privacy-respecting products that mimic the cultures, laws, and user expectations in their markets,” the report states. “If we take cues from what smaller companies are doing, we can find inspiration to make data privacy less about compliance and more about building products that meet user expectations and contexts.”
