The Personal Data Protection Commission of Singapore issued a reminder that new amendments to the Personal Data Protection Act went into effect Oct. 1. The PDPC’s power has been “enhanced to accept voluntary undertakings” under its enforcement obligations. Also the financial penalty cap was increased for companies that violate the PDPA from SG$1 million to "10% of the organisation’s annual turnover in Singapore for organisations with annual local turnover exceeding (SG$10) million, whichever is higher."
