- Senate Commerce Committee Chair Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., will report the tie votes to the Senate floor, The Washington Post reports. Both agencies currently lack a Democratic majority, preventing them from moving forward with priorities emphasized by President Joe Biden, like boosting protections for children online. “It’s difficult to do the major things that the White House wants and the leadership of the agencies want without a majority,” Brookings Metro nonresident Senior Fellow Blair Levin said.
