CNBC News reports fines under the EU General Data Protection Regulation have added up to 114 million euros combined over the last two years. Additionally, a study by law firm DLA Piper showed the GDPR generated 160,000 data breach notifications across the EU over the same period of time. "It’s not a huge surprise that we’re seeing a slow start to fines, but there’s more to come," DLA Piper Partner Ross McKean said. "It is going to be a slow progress to get the legal certainty regulators need to start whacking companies with higher fines." Meanwhile, The Irish Times reports the Netherlands and Ireland had the most breach notifications among EU nations with 40,647 and 6,700, respectively.
