A December 2021 data breach in Albania still has far-reaching consequences for Albanian and neighboring Kosovan citizens, Balkan Insight reports. As a result of the breach, a list of personally identifiable information began circulating online. Eight months prior to the breach, Triana-based portal Lapsi.al released a database containing information on 900,000 voters used by the ruling party. Simultaneously in Kosovo, despite the breach, a minimal number of individual complaints have been made to its data protection authority, Agency for Information and Privacy.
