In an op-ed for Just Security, American Civil Liberties Union National Security Fellow Charlie Hogle and Columbia University Knight First Amendment Institute Litigation Director Alex Abdo write the ACLU is petitioning the Supreme Court of the United States to order the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court to publish its opinions. They write the FISC has authorized, outside of public view, electronic surveillance programs by the government, noting publishing its opinions is “crucial to public understanding of the nation’s surveillance laws.”
