A proposal would amend Brazil’s General Data Protection Law and National Education Guidelines and Bases Law to enable the sharing of information from the School Census and the National Exam of Secondary Education. The LGPD allows processing of children’s personal data only with a parent or legal guardian’s specific consent, and proponents said it has led to data published in reduced form and without historical context, which is “insufficient to understand the evolution of learning and the conditions of education in the country.”
