The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and counterparts in Quebec, British Columbia and Alberta are investigating whether a Tim Hortons mobile-ordering app complies with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act. The investigation follows media reports raising concerns about the apps' collection and use of geolocation data. Authorities will review if meaningful user consent was obtained. The OPC said the issue is “of great importance to Canadians given the privacy issues it raises.”
