In the 2020-21 annual report of the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Nunavut, Commissioner Graham Steele said privacy breaches in the territory are likely underreported, Nunavut News reports. Steele said the majority of breaches come from the Department of Health, but there is an “almost complete absence of reports” from other departments, meaning they may not be aware of reporting obligations under the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act, or may not recognize a privacy breach when it occurs.
