On Capitol Hill this week, Congress held back-to-back hearings on a potential U.S. federal privacy bill. The aim was to gain insights from expert witnesses on what such a bill should contain. Tuesday's House committee hearing included debate on how prescriptive a federal bill should be, while Wednesday's Senate committee hearing considered whether a federal bill should be modeled on the EU General Data Protection Regulation or perhaps the California Consumer Privacy Act.
