The House of Commons of Canada's Standing Committee on Industry and Technology published Privacy Commissioner Philippe Dufresne's submission to parliamentary debates on federal privacy reform. Dufresne said Bill C-27 and its proposal for the Consumer Privacy Protection Act "is a step in the right direction, but it can and must go further," while balancing consumer protection and business innovation. Dufresne submitted 15 key recommendations his office encourages lawmakers to include in the bill.
