The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner finalized its review of the Privacy Credit Reporting Code 2014. The review incorporated engagement from stakeholders from the "2021 Independent review of the Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code." While the handling of credit reporting information is under the purview of the Privacy Act 1988, the CR Code details how organizations must comply with the Privacy Act. Several of the proposals from the CR Code review included “streamlining” the ability for citizens to access their credit reports and "offering an automatic extension to people who have been subject to identity theft."
