New Zealand Privacy Commissioner John Edwards released a statement asking hospitality and retail businesses to avoid contact tracing apps that utilize excessive data collection. "Business shouldn’t be collecting information about COVID-19 symptoms," said Edwards, whose office recently published its evaluation of contact tracing tools.
