The New Zealand Police piloted Clearview AI's facial-recognition technology before discussing its potential deployment with the force's leadership or New Zealand Privacy Commissioner John Edwards, NZ Herald reports. Detective Superintendent Tom Fitzgerald admitted the police went through with "a short trial" earlier this year.
