CBC News reports Nova Scotia Premier-designate Tim Houston vowed to bestow more regulatory powers on the Nova Scotia's Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner. Houston plans to make good on a campaign promise, adding he plans to "make sure that the proper authority is there so that Nova Scotians have access to the information that they rightly should have access to." Nova Scotia is the only Canadian province where the privacy commissioner is not an independent officer of the legislature.
