Norway’s data protection authority, Datatilsynet, fined toll company Ferde NOK 5 million for transferring motorists’ personal data to a data processor in China. The DPA said it found Ferde violated obligations under the Privacy Ordinance for a period between one to two years. “The purpose of having these instruments in place is to set the framework for the handling of personal data, to identify possible weaknesses in the system and to ensure the secure and confidential processing of the data,” Datatilsynet Director Bjørn Erik Thon said.
