  • News Corp, the parent company of The Wall Street Journal and Fox News, announced a cyberattack, believed to be launched by China-based hackers, targeted journalists and other employees, The Wall Street Journal reports. The hack is believed to be an effort to uncover intelligence to benefit China’s interests. A representative from the Chinese Embassy in Washington, D.C., denied China had involvement in the attack.
  • The Washington State Department of Licensing said a data breach exposed professional and occupational license data of more than 250,000 individuals, Tech.co reports. The department said the breach was identified Jan. 24 and an investigation in conjunction with the Washington Office for CyberSecurity began immediately.
