The U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency fined Morgan Stanley $60 million in relation to a 2016 data breach, American Banker reports. The OCC found the bank did not properly dismantle and dispose of hardware containing sensitive customer data and failed to supervise the removal of customer data from the equipment before it was sold. Plaintiffs who have filed lawsuits against Morgan Stanley claim exposed data included Social Security and account numbers.
