A $5 million lawsuit against Morgan Stanley claims the financial organization failed to safeguard personally identifiable information when it discarded old computer equipment, leading to data breaches in 2016 and 2019, BankInfoSecurity reports. Filed in New York by customer Timothy Smith on behalf of approximately 100 other affected customers, the suit alleges “negligent and/or careless acts and omissions” in failing to protect customers’ data. Meanwhile, an Illinois federal judge rejected Par-A-Dice Hotel Casino’s request to dismiss a biometric privacy lawsuit.
