- Microsoft Corporate Vice President for Global Privacy and Regulatory Affairs and Chief Privacy Officer Julie Brill announced the technology company is launching measures in response to the European Data Protection Board's recommendations on supplementary measures for global data transfers. Brill writes Microsoft will challenge any government requests for consumer data and also compensate users should their data be shared in violation of the EU General Data Protection Regulation.
- In response to Microsoft's announcement, German data protection authorities in Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria and Hesse all voiced their support for tech company's decision.
