Microsoft CPO and former IAPP board of directors President Brendon Lynch, CIPP/US, used the official Microsoft blog to commit to GDPR compliance by May 2018. Specifically, he writes, all Microsoft cloud services contracts will "include commitments to be GDPR compliant when enforcement begins." With 90 percent of Fortune 500 companies using Microsoft cloud services in some way, Microsoft has an obligation, Lynch writes, to address the "rigorous security and privacy demands of our customers." In fact, Lynch writes that Microsoft will be periodically sharing its own experience in creating a GDPR compliance program so that its customers can use that experience to craft their own compliance programs.
