Meta asked the U.S. District Court for Washington, D.C., to stop the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's move to expand a 2020 settlement that would ban the company from monetizing data of users under age 18, The Wall Street Journal reports. Meta spokesperson Dina El-Kassaby Luce said a consent order approved within the original settlement "is clear that only the federal court, not the FTC, can enforce or modify it."
