HealthITSecurity reports Triple-S Advantage suffered a potential data breach after a mailing error led to the exposure of patient information. The health care organization discovered its November 2017 mailings to health care providers were sent to the wrong address, with plan member names, health plan identification numbers and dates of treatment among the information involved. Triple-S estimates 36,305 individuals had their information exposed in the incident. Other health care data breaches include a hacker exploiting an email security issue to access the records of 6,781 Ron’s Pharmacy Services customers and Coastal Cape Fear Eye Associates discovering ransomware on its computer systems.
