Three plaintiffs have filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois alleging law enforcement providers Motorola and Vigilant store 18 million mugshots without meeting Biometric Information Privacy Act policies, BiometricUpdate.com reports. The plaintiffs argue they did not consent to the collection of their biometrics and cite concerns of misuse or theft of the data. Meanwhile, privacy rights groups are calling for a National Day of Action to Ban Facial Recognition from College Campuses March 2.
