U.S. Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., and Rep. Kathy Castor, D-Fla., are urging the Federal Trade Commission to investigate Google’s “misleading” marketing of children’s applications as compliant with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. In a letter to the FTC, the lawmakers said there is evidence many apps “illegally track children’s behavior and share their personal information without consent” and the commission “must use its full authority” to protect children’s interests.
