Irish DPC receives 22% budget increase

Ireland's Data Protection Commission announced the Irish government increased the regulator's budget by 4.1 million euros for 2022, giving the DPC 23.2 million euros toward its enforcement work. The DPC indicated the additional resources will allow it to hire 40 new staff members to focus on areas of investigations, technology and legal. Commissioner Helen Dixon said the funding will be crucial for "underpinning the DPC in its role as the EU lead supervisory authority," adding the uptick in enforcement over the last year "must continue and increase."
