The Irish Data Protection Commissioner announced it has launched an investigation into Twitter after the agency received a breach notification from the social media company, Reuters reports. The commission said in a statement posted to its website Twitter sent the inquiry Jan. 8 and will look into whether Twitter is in compliance with Article 33 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation. “We actively notify the Office of the Irish Data Protection Commissioner and the public of these issues as appropriate,” Twitter said in a statement Friday. “We are fully committed to working with the Data Protection Commissioner’s Office to improve the already strong data and privacy protections we offer to the people who use our services.”
