Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Information Technology is urging WhatsApp and Facebook to explain changes to its data-sharing rules, including its purpose and basis for processing personal data, as well as the rights users have. The ministry also asked the platforms to improve compliance with laws and regulations, particularly those regulating personal data protection in Indonesia. In Turkey, the Competition Board launched an investigation into the platforms and ordered WhatsApp to suspend the new data collection process.
