TechCrunch reports India called on WhatsApp to withdraw its planned privacy notice change. In an email to WhatsApp Head Will Cathcart, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said WhatsApp's data-sharing agreement with Facebook has raised "grave concerns regarding the implications for the choice and autonomy of Indian citizens." The ministry seeks additional information from WhatsApp on the policy change and for an explanation as to why the country must comply with the new privacy notice while users in the EU are exempt.
