The April 1 scheduled implementation of South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act has been pushed back due to the COVID-19 epidemic, MyBroadband reports. A new implementation date has not yet been set. KnowBe4 Director of Data Privacy Lecio De Paula, CIPP/C, CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM, FIP, said the legislation will have an implementation period of approximately one year. To ensure compliance, De Paula said businesses should conduct a privacy impact assessment to determine changes needed to comply with POPIA.
