The Illinois Senate passed Senate Bill 2979, which proposes updated language in the state's Biometric Information Privacy Act to address frivolous lawsuits. The proposal, which still requires House approval, would clarify all instances of an individual's unlawful biometric data capture by a single entity amounts to one violation under the BIPA.
