The U.K. Information Commissioner's Office announced a 7.55 million GBP fine against Clearview AI over the use of U.K. citizens' facial images in its global database. The fine, lowered from the initial 17 million GBP penalty notice served in November 2021, concerns data scraping and nonconsensual use of images toward Clearview's facial recognition technology. Clearview was also ordered to delete U.K. individuals' images and halt its data scraping from public websites. The enforcement action follows a joint investigation by the ICO and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
